Selling Your Ideas

Presenter: Gill Wagner
Partner, GRB Holdings, LLC
Chief Catalyst Officer, Gill Wagner Connections, LLC

Whether it is to stakeholders in your organization or the learners in your care, selling your ideas to others is a critical skill for anyone in the learning and development field. The communication skills covered in this session will allow you to have a more in-depth conversation with anyone, anytime, anywhere for any reason.

We’ve all been in conversations with one or more of these people:

  • A student who can’t break free of old paradigms
  • A teammate who may be resistive to other views
  • A spouse who lets emotions cloud his or her judgment
  • A prospect who won’t make a final decision
  • A teenager who seems to be living in a world of his or her own
  • A friend who needs and wants advice but can’t let go long enough to listen

On the outside looking in, the answers seem so clear. But how do you communicate your ideas to people who need, even want, to listen but are boxed in by old beliefs and behaviors?

The secrets lie in the methods you use to communicate. Join us for “Selling Your Ideas,” and you’ll learn two key techniques for selling your ideas to people who are resistant to listening. Armed with these interview skills, you will be able to more successfully convey your ideas, provide assistance, close sales – as well as be a more effective listener, because who knows, maybe you’re the one whose thinking is boxed in now and then.

Each session attendee will receive a one-page handout of the key points covered in the session.

Presenter’s Bio:

Throughout his successful career as a serial entrepreneur, Gill has been the president, partner or CEO of seven successful start-up companies and nonprofits, and has used his ability to sell ideas to make his points and achieve objectives in each endeavor. Founder of the St. Louis business-networking association Yellow-Tie, Gill has been named the “Best Business Connector in St. Louis” and one of the “Top 100 St. Louisans To Know” to succeed in business. Most recently, Gill is a founding partner at GRB Holdings, LLC, a locally based holding company that will launch a variety of sales organizations and entrepreneurial endeavors.

When not building companies and sales teams, Gill entertains himself and others by riding a bicycle 200 miles in 14 hours and then balancing it on his chin, reciting the alphabet in six different directions, and juggling anything from beanbags to bowling pins.
