Session Description:

What do all leaders have in common regardless of their time in history or their place in the world? They all have followers. Why do people follow? Because leaders connect them with a purpose that is deeply meaningful. This purpose inspires them. It motivates them. It energizes them. Being connected to this purpose makes people feel worthwhile and part of a force that can change an organization, their team, their life. What underlies this force? In short, a very powerful set of communication strategies for leading people.

In this session, participants will learn three communication strategies for leading people. The session will facilitate learning these strategies through video demonstrations, provocative discussion, and applied practice. By the end of the session, participants will be prepared to use these strategies in both workcentered and interpersonal relationships.

The Framework:

3 Communication Strategies for Leading People

Strategy #1: Be Guided by a Foundational Definition of Leadership

Strategy #2: Connect People with a Meaningful Purpose

Strategy #3: Make People Feel Valued and Appreciated
