Workplace Culture:

What Message Are You Sending?

Presenter: Rhonda Brown, MBA, PhD

Chief Training Officer, The Survey Institute

Training and talent development is often a misunderstood practice.  Many outside of the discipline simply think that "going through training" somehow magically transforms and develops the participant.  Those within the discipline know this is far from the truth.  Therefore, you are invited to a presentation on the challenges talent development professionals face on a daily basis.

In this presentation, the focus will be on the following:

  • How to align your message for maximum receptivity
  • Assessing where the true training and development needs lie
  • The importance of accountability
The methodology discussed is universal for any training and talent development situation, and it will be demonstrated by looking at a safety case study to prove these points.

In this presentation, you will learn how safety is “typically’ measured and how this can lead to some of the common errors that threaten a thriving safety culture.  The Survey Institute invites you to challenge your own perceptions and gauge whether you have safety policies (typically written but not followed) or safety philosophies (not just written but lived out and proven to be the organization's values).

Presenter’s  Bio:

Dr. Brown has built a career around a personal passion for understanding human behavior and the key factors that most significantly impact decision-making and effective functioning. She marries that passion with an innate business sense and valuable instincts for leveraging strengths for powerful change.

After achieving a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Missouri – Columbia, Dr. Brown went on to earn her Doctorate of Psychology and Master of Science and Research from Saint Louis University. In addition to her license as a Clinical Psychologist, she also holds a Master’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Fontbonne University.

Since 1998, Dr. Brown has partnered with organizations ranging from small to Fortune 500 on issues such as executive leadership development and assessment, executive and senior management team building, succession planning, strategic planning, and the human side of change management – the alignment of the company’s culture, values, people, and behaviors.

The essence of Dr. Brown’s work with organizations centers on maximizing internal effectiveness and engagement so that strategic and bottom-line results are achieved. Success in that work requires companies to have meaningful data on their real issues. This prompted Dr. Brown’s search for more effective methods to measure the true key drivers impacting the organizations she serves, and led to consulting collaboration with Don Bruns, Founder and Principal with The Survey institute (TSI).

Dr. Brown formally joined with TSI in 2013 as the Chief Training Officer.  In this role, Dr. Brown leverages her background and expertise to successfully advance leaders and business environments through key data-driven transformational coaching, training, and consulting experiences.

Dr. Brown’s industry experiences include: Healthcare; Behavioral Health; Non-Profit; Supply & Distribution; Education; Manufacturing; Government; Insurance; Legal; and Banking.
